FKS shortlisted in three categories at the FPC Fresh Awards 2026
Lincolnshire insect-farming and biotech pioneer FKS has been recognised for climate, innovation and supply chain sustainability excellence in these national awards, following recent Global Good Awards shortlisting
Fairman Knight & Sons (FKS) has been shortlisted in three categories at the FPC Fresh Awards 2026, marking another major milestone for the Lincolnshire-based insect-farming and biotech business.
FKS has been named as a finalist in Climate Champion of the Year, Innovation Excellence, and Sustainability Excellence – Supply Chain, placing the business among some of the most forward-thinking organisations in the fresh produce and floral sectors nationwide.
The announcement comes shortly after FKS was also shortlisted in the Global Good Awards 2026, in the Circular Economy category for its entry, “Closing the Food Loop: UK’s first commercial Food Waste Upcycling Insect Farming Business.”
Together, the shortlistings reflect a sustained period of national recognition for FKS and its work to prove that circular economy solutions can operate reliably at commercial scale.
Based in Holbeach, in the heart of the UK Food Valley, FKS uses black soldier fly biology to transform local food waste into high-value outputs, including insect protein for animal and pet nutrition, bio-oil, and frass and chitin for soil health and other applications. The business is developing a UK-first operational model that supports measurable climate gains, supply chain resilience, and greater resource efficiency across the food system.
Over the past 18 months, FKS has built significant momentum, both in its dedication to responsible and economical growth as well as across a number of respected awards programmes, including the Lincolnshire Business Awards 2026, Lincolnshire Business Awards 2025, Blue Earth Summit top 5 in Scale, Future of Food Awards, South Holland Business Awards, and the Global Good Awards, alongside its win at the Innovate UK Eastern England Agritech Launchpad Competition 2024.

The FPC Fresh Awards 2026, organised by the Fresh Produce Consortium, celebrate excellence across the fresh produce and floral sectors. This year’s programme attracted an outstanding field of entries, with more than 170 finalists shortlisted across 27 award categories, alongside the Business of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award special honours.
The Fresh Produce Consortium said the standard of entry was “exceptionally high”, with every finalist earning their place through the “quality, ambition and impact of their work.”
Winners will be announced at the FPC Fresh Awards ceremony on the evening of 25 September 2026 at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.
