Fairman Knight & Sons and Bug Mars Announce Strategic Partnership

Fairman Knight & Sons, the UK’s leading commercial-scale waste upcycling and Insect bioconversion farming business, is proud to announce a new partnership with Bug Mars, a Canadian AI software provider specializing in production automation and traceability for insect farms, to advance AI-powered bioconversion in the UK.

The collaboration marks a major step forward for scalable, tech-enabled bioconversion. Together, the two companies will implement intelligent monitoring and production analytics at Fairman Knight’s new 100.000 sq ft facility in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, UK, improving precision, yield, and operational efficiency.

“We’ve built a robust commercial scale system for converting waste into valuable protein, frass, and bio-oil,” said Julian Knight, CEO of Fairman Knight & Sons “But to scale further effectively and meet growing demand, we need deeper insights and control into our precision vertical farming, rack-based system.”

Fairman Knight & Sons is a multi-award-winning sustainable farming business that has already been backed by the UK Government 3 times in the last 12 months as it moves from feasibility to full operations. Bug Mars’ software platform will provide:

• Adaptive environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity, CO₂, etc.)

• Automated alerts and production tracking

• Read-only auditor access for compliance and transparency

“Fairman Knight is one of the most forward-thinking businesses in the space,” said Natalie Duncan, CEO of Bug Mars “We’re excited to collaborate on real-world deployments that push this industry forward and make bioconversion more data-driven, scalable, and impactful.”

The partnership reflects a growing trend: using AI and automation to unlock the full potential of insect-based solutions for food waste, pet feed, livestock feed, and regenerative soil health net bio diversity gains.
