Frontier Agriculture’s former MD, Mark Aitchison joins us as Chairman

Bringing three decades of experience to the table, the appointment of this industry titan serves to strengthen strategy, partnerships and partner assurance as production continues to scale in Holbeach

Fairman Knight & Sons today announces the appointment of Mark Aitchison as Chairman. Having spent over two decades at the helm of Frontier, Aitchison’s appointment serves to further fortify the founding expertise of William Fairman, Chief Farming Officer, and Julian Knight, Chief Executive Officer.

The new Chairman, Mark Aitchison, said: “Fairman Knight & Sons sits at the crossroads of what UK agriculture needs next: dependable supply chains, lower emissions and practical solutions that work with UK farmers, food producers and retailers. I’m delighted to support Julian, William and the team as we scale a circular model that the industry can trust.”

Hot off the back of winning two awards at the South Holland Business Awards 2025 run by the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce last week, and following the successful completion of its funding round, Fairman Knight & Sons will be bringing more production rooms online in the coming weeks, a step which will see William and Julian’s vision of a self-sustaining circular economy farming business grow.

William Fairman, Chief Farming Officer and Co‑founder, added: “The next few weeks will see the team reach further landmarks in our journey.. The timing couldn’t be better to officially be able to announce Mark’s arrival as Chair. His understanding of farming and food and feed and those who operate within the industry is unrivalled, and will help us turn proven benefits into long‑term partnerships that deliver reliability and value for all in the supply chain.”

Julian Knight, Chief Executive Officer and Co‑founder, concluded: “Mark’s appointment absolutely validates the substance behind our vision. With his guidance, we know we can scale responsibly to the highest standards— proving that circular systems deliver for people, planet and profit. With Mark as Chairman, Fairman Knight far surpasses the often ill-fated ‘ insect start-up’ assumption, and instead has become the de facto national champion in the race to build a British Protix.”
