Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire pays us a visit

The visit formed part of the Mayor’s wider autumn programme of meetings and site visits across the county, focused on the practical drivers of regional growth, including transport, infrastructure, skills and investment. Welcoming the Mayor on site was an opportunity to showcase how the team is turning innovation into real-world impact: transforming food waste into insect protein, bio-oil and regenerative fertiliser.

A highlight of the day was seeing the operation up close — and hearing directly from the young, skilled Insect Operations Team we have on site, who spoke with the Mayor about the facility, the process, and the people behind it.

Why this matters for Fairman Knight & Sons

A mayoral visit is more than a moment for photos; it is a signal of the importance of Fairman Knight & Sons’ contribution to Greater Lincolnshire’s future economy.

As the region sharpens its focus on high-value growth, skills and innovation, Fairman Knight & Sons represents a new kind of infrastructure: a circular solution that tackles food waste while producing outputs that support resilient supply chains and more regenerative systems.

“The visit has also come at a time when the Combined County Authority is strengthening private sector representation within its innovation structures, to capture a wider range of expertise from across the region,” added Julian Knight, CEO. “Being present in these conversations reflects the credibility we have as a business — and our relevance to the agenda shaping what comes next for Greater Lincolnshire.

“As a team, we look forward to continuing to build on this momentum, championing home-grown innovation, and demonstrating what is possible when circular economy thinking is applied at commercial scale.”
